The Dalley-Scarlett Memorial Scholarship enables a Queensland student of music to undertake further study, either in Australia or overseas, in one or more of the following fields: Composition, Conducting, Musicology, and Organ.

About the prize

Dr Robert Dalley-Scarlett became the youngest Cathedral organist at the time when he was appointed organist and choir-master of Grafton Cathedral at the age of 25 before moving to Brisbane in 1919 after serving in the first world war.

Dalley-Scarlett was Director of Queensland University Choral Society from 1920 to 1930 and organised the southern hemisphere's first Bach Festival, later founding the Brisbane Bach and Handel Societies. He directed the ABC's Brisbane Singers and was also chief Music Critic for the Courier Mail.
