The School of Music is hosting the internationally acclaimed Russian pianist Nikolai Demidenko.
Nikolai Demidenko is an internationally acclaimed soloist. After graduating from the Moscow Conservatory, he has gone on to perform with major orchestras across the world, including in the UK, Canada, Europe, New York and Australia. His repertoire is wide-ranging, including Bach, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Mussorgsky and Scarlatti, in addition to his international reputation for incredibly fine interpretations of the music of Chopin.
“His tone had singing warmth, and his pace was gentle: the long sustained lines and the shifts between minor and major were brought out with ballade-like grace." - The Independent.
Mr Demidenko is the 2016 Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Soloist in Residence, which is sponsored by The University of Queensland.
Mr Demidenko will be performing an all Chopin program to an invited audience in the Nickson Room at 6:00pm on Wednesday 18 May.
