Tinalley String Quartet present a program of Beethoven and Ravel in the evocative surrounds of the UQ Art Museum.

The Opus 95 quartet is the last of the quartets of Beethoven’s ‘middle’ period and is a turbulent affair that partly reflects his inner turmoil at the impending loss of his hearing. It is juxtaposed by one of the great quartets of the 20th century. Ravel received much criticism from critics and fellow composers following the premiere of his only quartet but the unique colours and textures that he created in this work have led it to become a firm favourite of listeners all over the world. This concert coincides with the release of Tinalley’s debut recording on the Decca label- featuring the quartets of Debussy and Ravel.
