Simon Svoboda (Cello) - Alumni Featured Performer
Simon is one of Australia's leading young cello performers who has received tuition from Jean-Guihen Queyras, Johannes Moser, Marko Ylönen, and Tristan Cornut. He participated in the 2018 Cervo Sommerakademie with lessons from Troels Svane before delivering a special performance of Bach’s Suite no. 5. He has performed guest recitals as part of the Queensland Music Festival, the Australian Youth Orchestra's ‘Momentum Ensemble’, the Kodaly Summer School in 2017 (performing Bartók’s String Quartet no. 2), and as a soloist for Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C Major with the UQ Pulse Chamber Orchestra.
Simon has performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and won the 2017 4MBS Chamber Music Prize with violinist Phoebe Masel.

About Twilight in the Red Box Series
Join us for a series of intimate twilight concerts showcasing brand new classical music from renowned Australian and international composers, and performances by some of Australia’s finest musicians and rising stars.
Internationally renowned classical music export the Tinalley String Quartet will perform masterpieces from their repertoire in the opening concert of the series on 7 July. Acclaimed for their addictive sound and intuitive music making, these virtuosic musicians have enraptured audiences across the globe.
On Sunday 14 & 21 July, concert programs curated by University of Queensland Cello Performance Fellow, Patrick Murphy, will feature instrumental and vocal performances from students of the University of Queensland’s School of Music and take audiences on a transportive musical journey spanning seven centuries.
