Hila Yusupov studied piano in the class of Professor Galina Kalmikova at the Tashkent State Conservatorium of Music, Uzbekistan (1986-1992). She completed her Master’s degree (1997) at the same conservatorium under direction of Professor Nicolay Bukin. Hila worked over 10 years as a repetiteur in the Voice Faculty and the Faculty of the Uzbek Traditional Instruments at the Tashkent State Conservatory. She was a Professor’s assistant for the Chamber Music Faculty at the same Conservatory for over four years.

After migrating to Australia in 2005, she was employed by Australian Institute of Music (Sydney) as a piano teacher, accompanist and chamber music fellow. Hila has played on many occasions with different soloists and ensembles. The highlights of her performances include recitals with New Cologne International Philharmonic Orchestra in Sydney Opera House, with Wesley International Chamber Orchestra in St John’s Cathedral, Brisbane and tours with various Chamber Groups and soloists in Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Apart from perofrmance experience, Hila has also an extensive experience in education. For many years, she has worked as a secondary music teacher at Mueller college, and has served as a panelist and a chair of Music Panel at QCAA. She has adjudicated at at the Griffith University Young Conservatorium, the Bach Competition for Senior Piano devision in 2018.

Hila is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Queensland; her research focuses on elements of Uzbek folk music and interpretation in the chamber music repertoire of Uzbek Soviet Composer Georgi Mushel. She has presented her research paper at the Fourth Annual Graduate Student Music Conference, at the University of Arizona, USA. Hila is interested in raising awareness in Uzbek composers through presenting their largely unknown music.
