In "Spiritual Sangeet", you will experience the depth of Indian Classical Music in the voice of Dr Charulatha Mani, an award-winning singer of Classical and film music of India and Postdoctoral Research Fellow here at the UQ School of Music. This concert will present iconic traditional pieces in different Indian languages - Sanskrit, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada - with Aswin Narayanan on Karnatik Violin and Dheeraj Shreshta on Tabla. Featuring the works of singing saints from history including female composers Meerabai and Andal, the concert will feature an array of Indian ragas (melody types) and intricate talas (rhythmic structures) and culminate in an original composition of Dr Charu Mani for world peace.
