Dushan began learning the Double Bass in his native Czech Republic at the age of eighteen.

After moving permanently to Australia he continued his studies at the Sydney Conservatorium with Max McBride and Kees Boersma. Later he was accepted to study at the Hochschulle für Musik in Vienna under Prof. Josef Niederhammer and Herbert Mayr - Principal Double Bass in Vienna Philharmonic.

As a student Dushan also participated in number of International music festivals and masterclasses with world's leading teachers and performers in Europe, Japan and Israel.

After returning to Australia Dushan worked regularly with the Sydney Symphony and Australian Chamber Orchestra. In 1994 he accepted a full time position with Orchestra Victoria in Melbourne and in 1996 he successfully auditioned for the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

Since 2002 Dushan has served as an Associate Principal Double Bass in the QSO. Dushan enjoys teaching and regularly participates in various chamber music ensembles throughout Queensland.
