Tim was born in Brisbane and studied Timpani and Percussion at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music under Alan Cumberland. Upon graduating in 1990 with a Diploma of Music and a Post Graduate in Performance he was appointed to the QSO Percussion section where he remained until 1998, at which point he was appointed Principal Timpanist – where he remains today.

Tim has appeared as guest timpanist in many different Orchestras including the London Philharmonic, Australian World Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony, Australia Opera and Ballet Orchestra, the New Zealand Symphony and the Malaysian Philharmonic. He enjoys working with young timpanists through his association with Griffith University Qld Conservatorium, the Queensland Youth Orchestra, the Australian Youth Orchestra and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Internship program.

Tim is also a keen cornet player in one of Brisbane’s A grade brass bands and is married to Woodwind doubling specialist and educator Karen Corkeron.
