The School of Music is proud to present a series of world class live-streamed concerts and music based presentations from the Nickson Room on selected Fridays at 1-2pm AEST involving our performance and academic staff together with current and past UQ students and invited guest artists.

Viney Grinberg Duo

The Viney-Grinberg Duo return to the School of Music Virtual Concert Series to present two works for two pianists. First, one of Schubert’s most tragic late pieces, the Fantasie in F minor. Then Rachmaninoff’s Suite for two pianos Op. 5, a work that explores the world of human emotions through the sounds of the physical world; rippling water and a gondolier's song, bird calls, tear drops, and the mighty iconic bells of Russian Orthodox churches.

Australian Music Concert

UQ students will present a concert showcasing seminal works by iconic Australian composers of the 20th and 21st century. Together with Southern Cross Soloist pianist Alex Raineri, our students will feature works from Carl Vine, Andrew Ford and a newly commissioned work by a UQ student composer.

Soprano Sarah Crane, Cellist Patrick Murphy, Pianist Alex Raineri, and Baritone Shaun Brown will lead you through the German and Italian Romantic repertoire of composers such as Strauss, and Ponchielli, with some unknown Italian gems as well. This unique collaboration of instruments and musicians is sure to evoke passionate emotions as they explore rich and varied melodic and harmonic soundscapes.
