Under the expert mentorship of Gregory Massingham and Dr Shaun Brown for voice, and Dr Robert Davidson for composition, Aarya has honed his craft to an impressive level of artistry.

Aarya directs and sings in the eight-voice chamber vocal group, the Aura Ensemble, which recently won the 2024 4MBS Musica Viva Sid Page Memorial Prize in Chamber Music. This accolade came for their performance of Aarya’s original composition, Rain in the Mountains, a piece that also earned a spot among the final four entries for the 2024 Willgoss Choral Composition Prize. His compositional prowess is matched by his vocal excellence, evidenced by his status as a finalist in the 2023 and 2024 Ethel Osborne Prizes, as well as the 2022 and 2024 Nickson Prizes, where he collaborated with Saxon Mills-Booth and Jacob Fowler.

On stage, Aarya has delivered compelling performances in several notable roles. At UQ, he portrayed Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte (2022), directed by Dane Lam and Shaun Brown, and Caramello in Eine Nacht in Venedig (2023), under the direction of Shaun Brown. His versatility extends to the concert stage, where he has performed as the tenor soloist in Haydn’s Paukenmesse (2024) with ChoirWorks under the baton of Debra Shearer-Dirie and Schubert’s Mass in G Major (2024) with the Amadeus Orchestra conducted by Neil Flottmann. Most recently Aarya debuted on the QPAC Concert Hall stage as Tenor soloist in Mozart’s Requiem, conducted by Dane Lam with The University of Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
