Discovery Days

The School of Music takes pride in hosting Discovery Days that serve a twofold purpose. Firstly, these events extend targeted support to woodwind, brass and percussion students, and by extension, their teachers. They are tailored to address specific needs of their instrument groups, fostering an environment that nurtures students and supports their aspirations, particularly those who may contemplate music studies at the tertiary level.

Secondly, these events are an opportunity to provide invaluable insights and information regarding the study of tertiary music at The University of Queensland, encompassing both the Bachelor of Music program and a diverse range of dual degree options. Through these engaging events, aspiring musicians can explore the wide array of academic offerings and resources available at the university, enabling them to make informed decisions about their educational journey. The School of Music proudly offers a variety of dual degree options that combine music with other disciplines, attracting a growing number of music students each year. Gone are the days when students were compelled to relinquish their passion for music in favour of pursuing other areas of study. Now, they can wholeheartedly pursue their musical passion while simultaneously expanding their knowledge in other chosen disciplines such as Arts, Science, or Education. This integration allows students to enjoy a well-rounded education and embrace their diverse interests.
