Dr Hannah Harley
Hannah is a Brisbane based cellist working mainly as a freelance performer and teacher. Deciding to play the cello when her music teachers declined to let her play violin, she has stubbornly pursued it through school and into university, where she now studies a Bachelor of Music under Patrick Murphy at the University of Queensland. Performing regularly with the Meraki string quartet, and as principle cellist of the Queensland Youth Symphony and UQ Symphony Orchestra, she also enjoys playing sporadic gigs with a more modern flavour, including live concert stages where even classical musicians get riders, and new compositions as part of Brisbane's growing contemporary classical music scene. She has recorded string parts for several artists including Neighbour, and The Kite String Tangle, with whom she has performed at the Brisbane Festival and on Triple J’s Like A Version.
