University of Queensland Bachelor of Music (Honours) graduate and triple Grammy Award winner Tim Munro will be the inaugural Paula and Tony Kinnane Scholar in Residence in May 2017.

During his residency, Tim will work with students and staff as they prepare for the Semester One 2017 QPAC concert, and will oversee a major community collaboration in and through music.

Tim expressed his delight and gratitude at the opportunity to deepen his relationship with the University of Queensland and School of Music community through this residency.

"Music is community. It brings people together for the sharing of stories, the evoking of memories, the stirring of emotions. I'm honoured to come back to my beloved alma mater to celebrate the building of bonds through music." Tim said.

The residency is supported through an historic $8 million bequest to Music and the UQ Art Museum from the late Paula and Tony Kinnane. This generous bequest will support a range of activities and opportunities for students at UQ Music, including undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships, touring opportunities for UQ Music performance ensembles, research and learning partnerships with music organisations, and the annual Scholar in Residence program.
