Musicology at The University of Queensland (UQ) introduces you to the rich world of Western musical traditions from Renaissance to modern times.

You will gain understanding of the principles of music writing, aural awareness and compositional practices through a core sequence of musicianship classes in the first three semesters followed by elective courses in counterpoint and music analysis in later semesters.

UQ’s rigorous music history courses advance your critical awareness of major developments in musical styles and genres and the broader cultural contexts in which they arose. You will have many opportunities to work with UQ musicologists on research and thesis projects based on your own musical interests during your studies at UQ
