Render is a musical collective exploring collaboration, technology, and experimentation. Consisting of student composer/performers with interests in sonic exploration and new media, we make music which is often slow, strange, and sublime.
This year in Render, students have experimented with live looping - the process of recording sonic loops and playing them back, building complex layered textures in real time. We have also been investigating analog synths and drum machines; learning to rhythmically sync multiple devices and use onboard sequencing for wild electronic improvisation.
This concert will present new music incorporating all of the above and more, devised and composed collaboratively by students.
About Nickson Room Concert Series
The University of Queensland School of Music is proud to present our Nickson Room Concert Series for 2026. In reflecting the School's role in the broader South-East Queensland community, we have designed a diverse and exciting program. With established international and national artists performing, as well as our own emerging student artists, this year is set to be a vibrant, creative, and energetic time at the UQ School of Music. We look forward to connecting with you.
