Musicology at UQ involves world-class research and collaborative projects across historical musicology, performance practices, music theory and musicianship, and digital applications to music.

The excellent quality of musicological research by staff at UQ leads to regular publications in Australian and prestigious international peer-reviewed journals and the award of major competitive grant funding from the Australian Research Council. Honours and postgraduate students develop key research and professional skills while preparing dissertations on a wide range of topics under the supervision of UQ staff. The School of Music provides students with individual thesis supervision so that they maximise the benefits of their studies in all areas of musicological enquiry.
