UQ Big Band & Tim Davies

Tim Davies is currently one of the busiest conductors, composers and orchestrators in Hollywood. He is originally from Brisbane, having studied percussion and composition at the Queensland Conservatorium, but has lived and worked in USA since 1998.  Directed by Churchill Fellowship recepient  Clint Allen and managed by Brazilian jazz researcher Dr Peter Freeman, the UQ Big Band played a set of his Grammy award-winning Big Band scores at the Press Club on the 8th August.

Davies film and TV credits include La La Land, Trolls, Minions, Ant-Man & The Wasp, Empire, The Peanuts Movie, The Muppets, Lego Ninjago, The Simpsons Movie and Frozen. He is also the most prolific orchestrator and conductor in the world of video games having worked on multiple titles from the God of War, Infamous, Sims, Resistance and Batman: Arkham series. He is also becoming known in the concert hall having conducted Frozen Live with the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, and Pokemon: Symphonic Evolutions with the Baltimore and San Diego Symphonies. In January 2018, Tim conducted the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, for the first time, featuring his arrangements for Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds. He had also previously worked as lead arranger with Kendrick Lamar and the National Symphony, "To Pimp a Butterfly" with the orchestra.
