Join the UQ School of Music at the UQ Alumni Book Fair! We are presenting 2 performances in the UQ Centre with music in the foyer from 12-12:30pm and a performance in the lecture theatre from 2-2:45pm.
These performances are presented as part of 'Spectrum', The University of Queensland School of Music's annual music festival at UQ St Lucia, and proudly associated with UQ Arts.

Please register your attendance should you wish to attend either performance. If you have registered for a ticket via the UQ Alumni Book Fair registration form, you do not to register for a separate ticket/s.
Seating: Please note, tickets are general admission and are seats (for the lecture theatre performance) are accessed via stairs. Please arrive with your group so you can find seats together. For accessible seating, please contact engagement@hass.uq.edu.au.

Join us for an enchanting afternoon as SignWaves, The University of Queensland's dynamic flute collective, presents “Flutes in the Wind" – a captivating journey through the versatile world of flute music. Under the expert direction of Patrick Nolan, this remarkable ensemble will transform the amphitheatre into a resonant chamber of harmonic exploration. Since their formation in 2020, SignWaves has established a reputation for performances of extraordinary character and textural richness across diverse venues including cathedrals, art galleries, atriums and outdoor settings. This concert showcases an eclectic programme spanning intimate solo pieces to majestic full flute choir arrangements, demonstrating the remarkable range and expressive capabilities of this beloved instrument. The amphitheatre setting provides the perfect acoustic environment to experience the nuanced tones and ethereal qualities that make flute music so captivating.

The University of Queensland School of Music proudly presents a spectacular showcase of operatic brilliance featuring the talents of UQ's classical voice students. These dedicated performers have built an impressive reputation through diverse projects ranging from full operas and opera scenes to large-scale choral works in collaboration with The University of Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Their artistic reach extends throughout Queensland, where they have undertaken major tours to Far North Queensland and the Granite Belt, serving as mentors to young musicians while delivering exceptional performances for regional audiences. Throughout South-East Queensland, the UQ Singers have established significant partnerships with local orchestras and graced prestigious venues including the Botanic Gardens, St John's Cathedral, QPAC, The Old Museum, The Opera Queensland Studio, and even the Upper House of Queensland Parliament. Join us for a beautiful afternoon of operatic magic under the expert direction of Shaun Brown, Sarah Crane and Sarka Budinska. This performance will feature a carefully curated programme of exquisite arias, dynamic ensembles, and powerful choruses from the operatic canon. Experience beloved masterpieces by Verdi, Mascagni, Rossini, and Donizetti alongside hidden gems from lesser-known composers. From soaring melodies to dramatic choral moments, this celebration of operatic excellence promises to transport you to the grand opera houses of the world.
