Step into an extraordinary dialogue between sound and visual art, a concert presented in partnership with the UQ Art Museum.
Experience bold new compositions by UQ's emerging composers, performed by talented UQ musicians in direct response to the thought-provoking exhibition These Entanglements: Ecology After Nature. Exhibition curator Anna Briers notes, "Working from the premise that human exceptionalism has led to environmental catastrophe, the exhibition proposes a more ethical, symbiotic, and reciprocal approach to cross-species relations and ways of being in the world."
Each musical piece in this performance creates a unique sonic response to this premise, offering fresh perspectives on humanity's complex relationship with the natural world. This immersive concert marks a significant milestone in the decade-long creative partnership between UQ composers and the UQ Art Museum. Under the guidance of distinguished UQ School of Music staff - Dr Robert Davidson, Professor Paul Dean, Patrick Nolan, and Dr Shaun Brown -these compositions challenge conventional boundaries between artistic disciplines.
Join us for an evening where music and visual art converge, creating a multisensory experience that illuminates the entangled relationships shaping our existence.
Presented as part of 'Spectrum', The University of Queensland School of Music's annual music festival at UQ St Lucia, and proudly associated with UQ Arts.
